حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ ثنا مِسْعَرُ عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ قَالَ قَالَ

عَبْدُ اللهِ «إِنْ كَانَ إِسْلَامُ عُمَرَ لَفَتْحًا وَإِمَارَتُهُ لَرَحَمَةً وَاللهِ مَا اسْتَطَعْنَا أَنْ نُصَلِّيَ بِالْبَيْتِ حَتَّى أَسْلَمَ عُمَرُ فَلَمَّا أَسْلَمَ عُمَرُ قَابَلَهُمْ حَتَّى دَعَوْنَا فَصَلَّيْنَا»

Translation

✧ ʿAbdullāh said: “ʿUmar’s acceptance of Islam was a conquest, and his rule was a mercy. By God, we were not able to pray at the House until ʿUmar accepted Islam. When ʿUmar accepted Islam, he confronted them until they called us, and we prayed.”
