حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ النَّضْرِ الْأَزْدِيُّ ثنا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ثنا زَائِدَةُ ثنا مَنْصُورٌ قَالَ قَالَ

عَبْدُ اللهِ «إِنِّي لَأَحْسِبُ عُمَرَ قَدْ رُفِعَ مَعَهُ يَوْمَ مَاتَ تِسْعَةُ أَعْشَارِ الْعِلْمِ وَإِنِّي لَأَحْسِبُ عَلْمَ عُمَرَ لَوْ وُضِعَ فِي كِفَّةِ الْمِيزَانِ وَعَلْمُ مَنْ بَعْدَهُ لَرَجَحَ عَلَيْهِ عَلْمُ عُمَرَ ؓ »

✧ ʿAbdullāh said, "I think nine-tenths of knowledge was raised with ʿUmar on the day he died. I think that if ʿUmar's knowledge were placed in one pan of a scale and the knowledge of those after him in the other, ʿUmar's knowledge ؓ would outweigh it."
