✧ ʿAbd Allah said: 'The parable of one who recites the Qur'an but does not act upon it is like a fragrant herb whose scent is pleasant but has no taste. The parable of one who acts upon the Qur'an but does not recite it is like a date whose taste is pleasant but has no fragrance. The parable of one who learns the Qur'an and teaches it is like a citron whose taste is pleasant and whose fragrance is pleasant. The parable of one who does not recite the Qur'an nor act upon it is like a colocynth whose taste is bitter and whose smell is bitter.'
