حَدَّثَنَا يُوسُفُ الْقَاضِي ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ مَرْزُوقٍ أَنَا شُعْبَةُ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا يُوسُفُ الْقَاضِي ثنا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ أَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ سَمِعَ مُرَّةَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ

«إِنَّ أَصْدَقَ الْحَدِيثِ كِتَابُ اللهِ وَأَحْسَنَ الْهَدْيِ هَدْيُ مُحَمَّدٍ وَشَرَّ الْأُمُورِ مُحْدَثَاتُهَا وَإِنَّ مَا تُوعَدُونَ لَآتٍ وَمَا أَنْتُمْ بِمُعْجِزِينَ إِنَّ بَعِيدًا مَا لَيْسَ آتِيًا أَلَا عَلَيْكُمْ بِالصِّدْقِ فَإِنَّهُ إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ وَلَا يَزَالُ الرَّجُلُ يَصْدُقُ حَتَّى يُكْتَبَ عِنْدَ اللهِ صَدِّيقًا وَيَثْبُتَ الْبِرُّ فِي قَلْبِهِ وَلَا يَكُونَ الْفُجُورُ فِي قَلْبِهِ مَوْضِعَ إِبْرَةٍ لِيَسْتَقِرَّ فِيهَا أَلَا وَإِيَّاكُمْ وَالْكَذِبَ فَإِنَّهُ يَهْدِي إِلَى النَّارِ وَلَا يَزَالُ الرَّجُلُ يَكْذِبُ حَتَّى يُكْتَبَ عِنْدَ اللهِ كَذَّابًا وَيَسْتَقِرَّ الْفُجُورُ فِي قَلْبِهِ فَلَا يَكُنْ فِي قَلْبِهِ مَوْضِعُ إِبْرَةٍ لِيَسْتَقِرَّ فِيهَا»

✧ 'Indeed, the truest speech is the Book of God, and the best guidance is the guidance of Muhammad ﷺ, and the worst of matters are their innovations. Indeed, what you are promised is surely coming, and you are not able to escape. Indeed far is only what is not coming. Beware, hold fast to truthfulness, for it leads to Paradise. A man keeps being truthful until he is recorded with God as a true friend, and righteousness becomes firm in his heart, and wickedness does not have in his heart even the space of a needle to settle therein. Beware, and beware of lying, for it leads to the Fire. A man keeps lying until he is recorded with God as a liar, and wickedness settles in his heart until there is not in his heart the space of a needle for it to settle therein.'
