حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ثنا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْجُعْفِيُّ عَنْ زَائِدَةَ عَنْ عَاصِمٍ عَنْ زِرٍّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ لَهُ «اقْرَأْ» فَافْتَتَحَ سُورَةَ النِّسَاءِ حَتَّى إِذَا انْتَهَى {فَكَيْفَ إِذَا جِئْنَا مِنْ كُلِّ أُمَّةٍ بِشَهِيدٍ وَجِئْنَا بِكَ عَلَى هَؤُلَاءِ شَهِيدًا} الْآيَةُ دَمَعَتْ عَيْنَاهُ وَقَالَ «حَسْبُنَا»

Translation

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ said to him, “Recite.” So he began Surat al-Nisaʾ until when he reached, “So how will it be when We bring from every community a witness and bring you as a witness against these?” (Q 4:41)—the verse—his eyes shed tears, and he said, “It is enough for us.”
