حَدَّثَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ الْأَسْفَاطِيُّ ثنا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ حَدَّثَنَا هُدْبَةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ قَالَا ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي الْعَاصِ

أَنَّ وَفْدَ ثَقِيفٍ لَمَّا قَدِمُوا عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنْزَلَهُمُ الْمَسْجِدَ لِيَكُونَ أَرَقَّ لِقُلُوبِهِمْ فَاشْتَرَطُوا عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنْ لَا يُحْشَرُوا وَلَا يُعْشَرُوا وَلَا يُجَبُّوا وَلَا يُسْتَعْمَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ مِنْ غَيْرِهِمْ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «لَا خَيْرَ فِي دَيْنٍ لَيْسَ فِيهِ رُكُوعٌ»

✧ When the delegation of Thaqif came to the Prophet ﷺ, he lodged them in the mosque so that their hearts might be softened. They stipulated to the Prophet ﷺ that they would not be gathered (for military service), nor subjected to tithe, nor circumcised, nor that anyone other than themselves be appointed over them. The Prophet ﷺ said: “There is no good in a religion that has no bowing (prayer).”
