حَدَّثَنَا سَهْلُ بْنُ مُوسَى الرَّامَهُرْمُزِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي صَفْوَانَ الثَّقَفِيُّ ثنا أَبُو دَاوُدَ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ ثنا أَبُو عَامِرٍ الْخَزَّازُ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ قَالَ
كَانَ لِعُثْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي الْعَاصِ بَيْتٌ قَدْ أَخْلَاهُ لِلْحَدِيثِ فَكُنَّا نَأْتِيهِ فِيهِ وَكَانَ يَقُولُ «سَاعَةٌ لِلدُّنْيَا وَسَاعَةٌ لِلْآخِرَةِ وَاللهُ أَعْلَمُ أَيُّ السَّاعَتَيْنِ تَغْلِبُ»
Translation
Chain of narrators
- Sahl b. Mūsá al-Rāmahurmuzī
✧ ʿUthmān b. Abī al-ʿĀṣ had a room that he had emptied for ḥadīth. We used to come to him there, and he would say: “An hour for this world and an hour for the Hereafter, and Allah knows best which of the two hours prevails.”
