حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ زُهَيْرٍ التُّسْتَرِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِدْرِيسَ الرَّازِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ دَاوُدَ بْنِ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ بْنِ سَهْلِ بْنِ حُنَيْفٍ حَدَّثَنِي سَعْدُ بْنُ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ هِنْدَ بْنِ سَهْلِ بْنِ حُنَيْفٍ عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ سَهْلِ بْنِ حُنَيْفٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ

عَنْ جَدِّهِ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ سَهْلِ بْنِ حُنَيْفٍ يَقُولُ «كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَقْدَمَ مِنْ مَكَّةَ يَدْعُو النَّاسَ إِلَى الْإِيمَانِ بِاللهِ وَتَصْدِيقًا بِهِ قَوْلًا بِلَا عَمَلٍ وَالْقِبْلَةِ إِلَى بَيْتِ الْمَقْدِسِ فَلَمَّا هَاجَرَ إِلَيْنَا نَزَلَتِ الْفَرَائِضُ وَنَسَخَتِ الْمَدِينَةُ مَكَّةَ وَالْقَوْلَ فِيهَا وَنَسَخَ الْبَيْتُ الْحَرَامُ بَيْتَ الْمَقْدِسِ فَصَارَ الْإِيمَانُ قَوْلًا وَعَمَلًا»

✧ On the authority of his grandfather Uthman b. Sahl b. Hunayf: “Before he came from Makkah, the Messenger of God ﷺ used to call people to faith in God and belief in Him by word without action, and the qiblah was toward Jerusalem. When he migrated to us, the obligations were revealed, Madinah abrogated Makkah and what was said in it, and the Sacred House abrogated Jerusalem. Thus faith became word and action.”
