حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الْأَهْوَازِيُّ ثنا عِيسَى بْنُ أَبِي حَرْبٍ الصَّفَّارُ ثنا قَيْسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِمْرَانَ الْكِنْدِيُّ ثنا عُفَيْرُ بْنُ مَعْدَانَ عَنْ سُلَيْمِ بْنِ عَامِرٍ عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ قَالَ
سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «شَهِيدُ الْبَحْرِ مِثْلُ شَهِيدَيِ الْبِرِّ وَالْمَائِدُ فِي الْبَحْرِ كَالْمُتَشَخِّطِ فِي دَمِهِ فِي الْبَرِّ وَمَا بَيْنَ الْمَوْجَتَيْنِ فِي الْبَحْرِ كَقَاطِعِ الدُّنْيَا فِي طَاعَةِ اللهِ وَإِنَّ اللهَ وَكَّلَ مَلَكَ الْمَوْتِ يَقْبِضُ الْأَرْوَاحَ إِلَّا شُهَدَاءَ الْبَحْرِ فَإِنَّهُ يَتَوَلَّى قَبْضَ أَرْوَاحِهِمْ وَيَغْفِرُ لِشُهَدَاءِ الْبَرِّ الذُّنُوبَ كُلَّهَا إِلَّا الدَّيْنَ وَيَسْتَغْفِرُ لِشُهَدَاءِ الْبَحْرِ الذُّنُوبَ كُلَّهَا وَالدَّيْنَ»

✧ I heard the Messenger of God ﷺ say: “The martyr of the sea is like two martyrs of the land. The one who vomits in the sea is like the one who wallows in his blood on land. And between two waves in the sea is like cutting off the world in obedience to God. Indeed, God has entrusted the Angel of Death to take the souls, except for the martyrs of the sea, for He Himself takes charge of taking their souls. And He forgives the martyrs of the land all sins except debt, and He seeks forgiveness for the martyrs of the sea for all sins and the debt.”
