حَدَّثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ حَدَّثَنِي مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ عَنْ أَبِي يَحْيَى سُلَيْمِ بْنِ عَامِرٍ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا أُمَامَةَ الْبَاهِلِيَّ يَقُولُ

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ عَلَى الْجَدْعَاءِ قَدْ جَعَلَ رِجْلَيْهِ فِي غَرْزِ الرِّكَابِ يَتَطَاوَلُ لَيُسْمِعَ النَّاسَ فَقَالَ «أَلَا تَسْمَعُونَ؟» يُطَوِّلُ صَوْتَهُ فَقَالَ قَائِلٌ مِنْ طَوَائِفِ النَّاسِ مَا تَعْهَدُ إِلَيْنَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «اعْبُدُوا رَبَّكُمْ وَصَلُّوا خَمْسَكُمْ وَصُومُوا شَهْرَكُمْ وَأَدُّوا زَكَاةَ أَمْوَالِكُمْ وَأَطِيعُوا ذَا أَمْرِكُمْ تَدْخُلُوا جَنَّةَ رَبِّكُمْ» قَالَ أَبُو يَحْيَى فَقُلْتُ يَا أَبَا أُمَامَةَ مِثْلُ مَنْ أَنْتَ يَوْمَئِذٍ؟ قَالَ «ابْنُ ثَلَاثِينَ سَنَةً أُزَاحِمُ الْعِيرَ حَتَّى إِنِّي أَزْحُمُهُ قَدَمًا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ»

✧ I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during the Farewell Pilgrimage on al-Jad'a', having placed his feet in the stirrup, stretching up to make the people hear him. He said: "Do you not hear?" He prolonged his voice, and a man from one of the groups of people said: "What do you enjoin upon us?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Worship your Lord, pray your five prayers, fast your month, pay the zakah of your wealth, and obey those in authority among you, and you will enter the Garden of your Lord." Abu Yahya said: I asked, "O Abu Umamah, how old were you that day?" He said, "Thirty years old, jostling the caravan until I jostled it foot by foot toward the Messenger of Allah ﷺ."
