حَدَّثَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ الْأَسْفَاطِيُّ ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَوْنٍ الْوَاسِطِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَبِيعَةَ بْنَ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ صِرْمَةَ الْعُذْرِيِّ قَالَ
غَزَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بَنِي الْمُصْطَلِقِ فَأَصَبْنَا كَرَائِمَ الْعَرَبِ فَأَرْغَبْنَا فِي التَّمَتُّعِ وَقَدِ اشْتَدَّتْ عَلَيْنَا الْعُزُوبَةُ فَأَرَدْنَا أَنْ نسْتَمْتِعَ وَنَعْزِلَ فَقَالَ بَعْضُنَا لِبَعْضٍ مَا يَنْبَغِي لَنَا أَنْ نصْنَعَ هَذَا وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بَيْنَ أَظْهُرِنَا حَتَّى نَسْأَلَهُ فَسَأَلْنَاهُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «اعْزِلُوا أَوْ لَا تَعْزِلُوا مَا كَتَبَ اللهُ مِنْ نَسَمَةٍ هِي كَائِنَةٌ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ إِلَّا وَهِي كَائِنَةٌ»

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ raided Banu al-Mustaliq, and we captured the noblewomen of the Arabs. We desired mut'a, and celibacy had become hard on us, so we wanted to practice mut'a and practice coitus interruptus. Some of us said to others: It is not appropriate for us to do this while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ is among us until we ask him. So we asked him, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Practice coitus interruptus or do not; whatever soul Allah has decreed to exist until the Day of Resurrection will surely exist."
