حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ ثنا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْقَوَارِيرِيُّ ح وحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ السَّقطِيُّ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ خَلَفٍ أَبُو سَلَمَةَ الْجُوبَارِيُّ قَالَا ثنا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ حَدَّثَنِي خَالِدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ أَبِي النَّجُودِ عَنْ زِرِّ بْنِ حُبَيْشٍ عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ عَسَّالٍ قَالَ

أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَسْأَلُهُ عَنِ الْمَسْحِ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ جِئْتُ أَسْأَلُكَ عَنِ الْعِلْمِ قَالَ «إِنَّ الْمَلَائِكَةَ لَتَضَعُ أَجْنِحَتَهَا لِطَالِبِ الْعِلْمِ رِضًى بِمَا يَطْلُبُ» «وَعَنْ أَيِّ الْعِلْمِ تَسْأَلُ؟» قُلْتُ يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ عَنِ الْمَسْحِ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ قَالَ «نَعَمْ يَوْمٌ وَلَيْلَةٌ لِلْمُقِيمِ وَثَلَاثٌ لِلْمُسَافِرِ مِنْ غَائِطٍ أَوْ بَوْلٍ ثُمَّ أَحْدَثَ وُضُوءًا»

✧ I came to the Messenger of God ﷺ to ask him about wiping over the leather socks. I said: O Messenger of God, I have come to ask you about knowledge. He said: "The angels lower their wings for the seeker of knowledge, pleased with what he seeks." "And about which knowledge do you ask?" I said: O Prophet of God, about wiping over the leather socks. He said: "Yes, a day and a night for the resident, and three for the traveler, from defecation or urination; then he performs a new ablution."
