حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدٌ الْعِجْلُ ثنا يُوسُفُ بْنُ مُوسَى الْقَطَّانُ ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْعَامِرِيُّ الرَّازِيُّ قَالَ قَرَأْتُ عَلَى عَبْدِ الْكَرِيمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْمُخَارِقِ وَقُرِئَ عَلَيْهِ فَقُلْنَا نَرْوِي عَنْكَ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي حَبِيبُ بْنُ أَبِي ثَابِتٍ عَنْ زِرِّ بْنِ حُبَيْشٍ الْأَسَدِيِّ

أَنَّهُ أَتَى صَفْوَانَ بْنَ عَسَّالٍ الْمُرَادِيَّ وَكَانَ مِمَّنْ يُسْأَلُ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ حَاجَتُكُمْ؟ قَالُوا خَرَجْنَا مِنْ يَوْمِنَا ابْتِغَاءَ الْعِلْمِ قَالَ فَإِنَّهُ مَنْ يَخْرُجْ مِنْ بَيْتِهِ ابْتِغَاءَ الْعِلْمِ فَإِنَّ الْمَلَائِكَةَ تَضَعُ أَجْنِحَتَهَا لِلْمُتَعَلِّمِ وَالْعَالِمِ وَسَأَلْتُهُ عَنِ الْمَسْحِ فَقَالَ نَعَمْ سُئِلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «فَجَعَلَ لِلْمُسَافِرِ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ وَلَيَالِيَهُنَّ وَلِلْمُقِيمِ يَوْمٌ وَلَيْلَةٌ إِلَّا مِنْ جَنَابَةٍ وَلَكِنْ مِنْ غَائِطٍ وَبَوْلٍ وَنَوْمٍ»

✧ That he came to Safwan b. 'Assal al-Muradi, who was among those of the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ who were asked, and he said: 'Your need?' They said: 'We set out today in pursuit of knowledge.' He said: 'Indeed, whoever leaves his house in pursuit of knowledge, the angels lower their wings for the learner and the scholar.' And I asked him about wiping, and he said: 'Yes, the Messenger of God ﷺ was asked and he set three days and their nights for the traveler, and a day and a night for the resident, except due to major impurity, but due to defecation, urine, and sleep.'
