حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ سُفْيَانَ الرَّقِّيُّ ثنا أَيُّوبُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْوَزَّانُ ثنا مَرْوَانُ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ الْفَزَارِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي قَيْسٍ الشَّامِيُّ عَنْ أَبِي مُصَبَّحٍ الْحِمْصِيِّ قَالَ
جَلَسْتُ إِلَى نَفَرٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِيهِمْ شَدَّادُ بْنُ أَوْسٍ وَثَوْبَانُ مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُمْ يَتَذَاكَرُونَ فَقَالُوا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيَعْمَلُ كَذَا وَكَذَا مِنَ الْخَيْرِ وَإِنَّهُ لَمُنَافِقٌ» قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ وَكَيْفَ يَكُونُ مُنَافِقًا وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ بِكَ؟ قَالَ «يَلْعَنُ الْأَئِمَّةَ وَيَطْعَنُ عَلَيْهِمْ»

✧ I sat with a group of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, among them Shaddad b. Aws and Thawban, the freed slave of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, while they were reminding one another. They said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “A man may perform such-and-such good deeds while he is a hypocrite.” They said: “O Messenger of Allah, how can he be a hypocrite while he believes in you?” He said: “He curses the leaders and slanders them.”
