حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُسْلِمٍ ثنا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ عَنْ يَزِيدَ عَنْ سَلَمَةَ قَالَ خَرَجْتُ أُرِيدُ الْغَابَةَ
فَسَمِعْتُ غُلَامًا لِعَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ يَقُولُ أُخِذَتْ لِقَاحُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قُلْتُ مَنْ أَخَذَهَا؟ قَالَ غَطَفَانُ وَفَزَارَةُ فَصَعِدْتُ الثَّنِيَّةَ فَقُلْتُ يَا صَبَاحَاهُ يَا صَبَاحَاهُ ثُمَّ انْطَلَقْتُ أَسْعَى فِي آثَارِهِمْ حَتَّى اسْتَنْقَذْتُهَا مِنْهُمْ وَجَاءَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي نَاسٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ الْقَوْمَ عِطَاشٌ أَعْجَلْنَاهُمْ أَنْ يُسْبَقُوا لِسَقْيِهِمْ قَالَ «يَا ابْنَ الْأَكْوَعِ مَلَكْتَ فَأَسْجِحْ إِنَّ الْقَوْمَ غَطَفَانَ يُقْرَوْنَ»

✧ Then I heard a slave-boy of 'Abd al-Rahman b. 'Awf saying: "The milch-camels of the Messenger of God ﷺ have been taken." I said: "Who took them?" He said: "Ghatafan and Fazarah." So I climbed the mountain pass and cried: "O morning raid! O morning raid!" Then I went off running in their tracks until I recovered the camels from them. The Messenger of God ﷺ came with a group of his companions, and I said: "O Messenger of God, the people are thirsty; we made them hurry so that they could not water their camels." He said: "O Ibn al-Akwa', you have gained mastery, so be gracious. The people of Ghatafan are being entertained as guests in their land."
