حَدَّثَنَا فُضَيْلُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْمَلْطِيُّ ثنا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ ثنا أَبُو الْعُمَيْسِ عَنْ إِيَاسِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ الْأَكْوَعِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ
أَتَى رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ عَيْنٌ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ وَهُوَ فِي سَفَرٍ فَجَلَسَ يَتَحَدَّثُ عِنْدَ أَصْحَابِهِ ثُمَّ انْسَلَّ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «اطْلُبُوهُ فَاقْتُلُوهُ» فَسَبَقْتُهُمْ إِلَيْهِ فَقَتَلْتُهُ وَأَخَذْتُ سَلَبَهُ فَنَفَّلَنِي إِيَّاهُ
Translation

✧ A spy from the polytheists came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was on a journey. He sat conversing with his companions, then slipped away. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Seek him and kill him." I got to him before them, killed him, and took his belongings, and he gave them to me as a reward.
