✧ One day he came in to me and spoke to me about something while he was somewhat irritable about it, so I answered him back. He said: "You are to me like the back of my mother." Then he went out and sat in the gathering of his people. Then he returned to me and wanted me for himself, but I refused him. He struggled with me and I struggled with him, and I overcame him as a woman overcomes a weak man. I said: "No, by the One in Whose hand is the soul of Khuwaylah, you will not reach it until Allah judges between me and you with His judgment." So I went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ complaining to him of what I had suffered from him. He said: "Your husband and your cousin? Fear Allah." And Allah ﷻ revealed: {Allah has indeed heard the statement of the woman who pleads with you concerning her husband} up to the mention of the expiation. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Tell him to free a slave." She said: "O Messenger of Allah, by Allah, he has no slave to free." He said: "Then let him fast two consecutive months." She said: "O Messenger of Allah, he is an old man; by Allah, he is not capable of fasting." He said: "Then let him feed sixty poor people." She said: "By Allah, O Messenger of Allah, he has nothing to feed them with." He said: "We will help him with a basket of dates." A basket holds thirty sa's. I said: "And I will help him with another basket." He said: "You have done well. Tell him to give it in charity."
