حَدَّثَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ أَبِي رَوْحٍ الْبَصْرِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبَانَ ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحِيمِ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ مُوسَى بْنَ عُبَيْدَةَ عَنْ أَخِيهِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُبَيْدَةَ عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ قَالَ
خَرَجَ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَنَحْنُ يُقْرِئُ بَعْضُنَا بَعْضًا فَقَالَ «الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ كِتَابٌ وَاحِدٌ فِيكُمُ الْأَحْمَرُ وَالْأَسْوَدُ اقْرَأُوا الْقُرْآنَ اقْرَأُوا الْقُرْآنَ اقْرَأُوا قَبْلَ أَنْ يَأْتِيَ أَقْوَامٌ يُقِيمُونَهُ كَمَا يُقَامُ السَّهْمُ وَلَا يُجَاوِزُ تَرَاقِيَهُمْ يَتَعَجَّلُونَ أَجْرَهُ وَلَا يَتَأَجَّلُونَهُ»

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ came out to us while some of us were teaching others. He said: “Praise be to God. The Book is one, and among you are the red and the black. Recite the Qur'an, recite the Qur'an, recite it before there come people who will pronounce it perfectly, as an arrow is made straight, but it will not go beyond their collarbones. They seek its reward in haste and do not defer it.”
