حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الصَّائِغُ ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو حُصَيْنٍ الْقَاضِي ثنا الْحِمَّانِيُّ قَالَا ثنا ابْنُ أَبِي حَازِمٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ أُتِيَ بِقَدَحٍ فِيهِ مَاءٌ فَشَرِبَ مِنْهُ وَعَنْ يَمِينِهِ غُلَامٌ أَحْدَثُ الْقَوْمِ وَالْأَشْيَاخُ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ فَلَمَّا فَرَغَ قَالَ «يَا غُلَامُ أَتَأْذَنُ لِي أَنْ أُعْطِيَ الْأَشْيَاخَ؟» فَقَالَ الْغُلَامُ مَا كُنْتُ لِأُوثِرَ بِفَضْلِكَ أَحَدًا فَتَلَّهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ في يَدِ الْغُلَامِ

✧ A cup containing water was brought to the Prophet ﷺ, and he drank from it. On his right was a boy, the youngest of the people, and the elders were on his left. When he finished, he said, “O boy, do you permit me to give it to the elders?” The boy said, “I would not prefer anyone over what is left from you.” So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ placed it in the boy’s hand.
