وَبِإِسْنَادِهِ قَالَ
لَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمُ خَيْبَرَ وَنَحْنُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَخَذَ الرَّايَةَ فَقَالَ «أُعْطِي هَذِهِ الرَّايَةَ رَجُلًا يُحِبُّ اللهَ وَرَسُولَهُ» فَتَطَاوَلَ النَّاسُ يَنْظُرُونَ مَنْ يُعْطِيهَا فَدَعَا عَلِيَّ بْنَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ ؓ وَعَلِيٌّ أَرْمَدُ فَبَصَقَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فِي عَيْنَيْهِ ثُمَّ أَعْطَاهَا إِيَّاهُ فَفَتَحَ اللهُ عَلَيْهِ
Translation
Chain of narrators
✧ On the day of Khaybar, while we were with the Prophet ﷺ, he took the banner and said, "I will give this banner to a man who loves Allah and His Messenger." The people stretched their necks to see who would be given it. He called 'Ali b. Abi Talib ؓ, and 'Ali had sore eyes. The Prophet ﷺ spat in his eyes, then gave it to him, and Allah granted victory through him.
