حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ زُهَيْرٍ ثنا أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ ثنا ابْنُ أَبِي فُدَيْكٍ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الْمُهَيْمِنِ بْنُ عَبَّاسِ بْنِ سَهْلٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ قَالَ
«كُنَّا نَفْرَحُ بِيَوْمِ الْجُمُعَةِ كَانَتْ عَجُوزٌ مِنَّا تُرْسِلُ إِلَى قُضَاعَةَ فَتَأْخُذُ مِنْ فُرُوعِ السَّلْقِ فَتَحُسُّ عَلَيْهِ حِفْنَةً مِنْ شَعِيرٍ فَتَطْبُخُهُ فَتُقَدِّمُهُ إِلَيْنَا فَنَلْعَقُهَا فَنَفْرَحُ بِيَوْمِ الْجُمُعَةِ لِذَلِكَ»

✧ “We used to rejoice on Friday. One of our old women would send to Quda'ah and take stalks of chard, then scatter over it a handful of barley and cook it, then bring it to us and we would lick it, and we rejoiced on Friday because of that.”
