حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ هَاشِمٍ الْبَغَوِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الْمُقَدَّمِيُّ ثنا أَبُو دَاوُدَ ثنا زَمْعَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ
أَنَّ رَجُلًا اطَّلَعَ مِنْ جُحْرٍ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَمَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ مِدْرًى يَحُكُّ بِهِ رَأْسَهُ فَقَالَ «لَوْ أَنِّي أَعْلَمُ أَنَّكَ تَنْظُرُ لَقُمْتُ حَتَّى أَطْعَنَ بِهِ فِي عَيْنِكَ إِنَّمَا جُعِلَ الْإِذْنُ مِنْ أَجْلِ الْبَصَرِ»

✧ A man looked through a hole at the Prophet ﷺ while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had an iron comb with which he was scratching his head. He said, "If I knew that you were looking, I would have stood up and stabbed you in the eye with it. Permission is only required because of seeing."
