حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ وَثَنًا عِلَّانُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الصَّمَدِ مَاغَمَّهُ قَالَا ثنا عُمَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ ثنا قَيْسٌ عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ أَبِي ثَابِتٍ عَنْ بَشِيرِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ أَبِي حَثْمَةَ قَالَ
خَرَجَ قَوْمٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ فَقُتِلَ رَجُلٌ مِنْهُمْ فَرُفِعَ ذَلِكَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «بَيِّنَتَكُمْ؟» قَالُوا مَا لَنَا بَيِّنَةٌ قَالَ «فَأَيْمَانَهُمْ؟» قَالُوا إِذَنْ يَقْتُلُنَا يَهُودُ ثُمَّ يَحْلِفُونَ قَالَ «فَأَيْمَانَكُمْ أَنْتُمْ» قَالُوا لَمْ نَشْهَدْ فَوَدَاهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ

✧ Some people of the Ansar went out, and a man among them was killed. This was brought to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he said, 'Your proof?' They said, 'We have no proof.' He said, 'Their oaths?' They said, 'In that case the Jews will kill us and then swear.' He said, 'Then your oaths?' They said, 'We did not witness it.' So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ paid his blood money.
