al-Mu'jam al-Kabir (al-Tabarani) 5555a

✧ Sahl b. Hunayf b. Wahib b. Hakim, also known as Uqaym b. Tha'laba b. Majda'a b. Al Harith b. 'Amr, known as Abu Thabit "Badr'i", died in Kufa, and Ali b. Abi Talib prayed upon him.

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحَجَّاجِ بْنِ رِشْدِينَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ رِشْدِينَ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْحَارِثِ عَنْ عَبْدِ رَبِّهِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ بْنِ سَهْلِ بْنِ حُنَيْفٍ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ لَمَّا اعْتَمَرَ وَكَانَ فِي الطَّرِيقِ قَالَ «لَوْ نَظَرْنَا إِلَى كُلِّ بَعِيرٍ سَمِينٍ فَنَحَرْنَاهُ وأَكَلْنَاهُ حَتَّى يَرَوْا قُوَّتَنَا» فَقَالَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ ؓ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ بَلِ ادْعُ بِأَزْوَادِ الْقَوْمِ ثُمَّ ادْعُ فِيهَا فَإِنَّ اللهَ ﷻ سَيُبَارِكُ فِيهَا فَفَعَلَ ذَلِكَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِذَا قَدِمْتُمْ فَارْمُلُوا الثَّلَاثَةَ الْأَشْوَاطَ الْأُوَلَ حَتَّى يَرَوْا قُوَّتَكُمْ»

✧ When the Messenger of God ﷺ performed 'umrah, he said while on the road: “If we looked at every fat camel and slaughtered it and ate it, so that they would see our strength.” 'Umar b. al-Khattab ؓ said: “O Messenger of God, rather call for the people's provisions and then invoke blessing in them, for God ﷻ will bless them.” The Messenger of God ﷺ did that, and then said: “When you arrive, perform ramal in the first three circuits so that they see your strength.”
