حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ الْمُهَاجِرِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ الْمَلِكِ بْنَ عُمَيْرٍ يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ عَمْرَو بْنَ حُرَيْثٍ قَالَ

حَدَّثَنِي أَخِي سَعِيدُ بْنُ حُرَيْثٍ وَكَانَ لَهُ صُحْبَةٌ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَكَانَ نِعْمَ الْأَخُ فَكُنْتُ أَهْوَى الْكُوفَةَ فَاسْتَأْذَنْتُهُ فِي بَيْعِ الدَّارِ فَأَذِنَ بِبَيْعِهَا فَقَالَ لِي يَا أَخِي أَمْسِكْ يَدَكَ عَنْ ثَمَنِ هَذِهِ الدَّارِ وَلَا تُنْقِصْ مِنْهُ شَيْئًا وَأَنْتَ تَسْتَطِيعُ فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَنْ بَاعَ مِنْكُمْ دَارًا أَوْ عَقَارًا فَمَا يُبَارَكُ لَهُ فِيهِ إِلَّا أَنْ يَجْعَلَهُ فِي مِثْلِهِ» فَصَدَّقْتُ أَخِي بِقَوْلِهِ وَالْتَمَسْتُ الْبَرَكَةَ بِقَوْلِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَابْتَعْتُ بَعْضَ دَارِنَا هَذِهِ مِنْ ذَلِكَ فَأعْقَبَنَا اللهُ بِهَا مَا هُوَ خَيْرٌ

✧ My brother Sa'id b. Hurayth told me—and he was a Companion of the Prophet ﷺ and an excellent brother—and I desired Kufa, so I asked his permission to sell the house, and he permitted selling it. He said to me, “O my brother, hold back your hand from the price of this house and do not reduce it by anything while you can, for I heard the Messenger of God ﷺ say, ‘Whoever among you sells a house or real estate, it is not blessed for him unless he puts it into something like it.’” I believed my brother's words and sought blessing through the words of the Messenger of God ﷺ, and I bought part of this house of ours from that, and God granted us through it something better.
