حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ بْنِ نَجْدَةَ الْحَوْطِيُّ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ صَالِحٍ الْوُحَاظِيُّ ثنا أَبُو مَعْشَرٍ نَجِيحٌ الْمَدَنِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُرَحْبِيلَ بْنِ سَعِيدِ بْنِ سَعْدِ بْنِ عُبَادَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ قَالَ قَالَ
سَعْدُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ حَضَرْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ وَجَاءَهُ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ وَجَدْتُ عَلَى بَطْنِ امْرَأَتِي رَجُلًا أَضْرِبُهُ بِالسَّيْفِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أَيُّ بَيِّنَةٍ أَبْيَنُ مِنَ السَّيْفِ؟» ثُمَّ رَجَعَ فَقَالَ «كِتَابُ رَبِّنَا هَذَا» فَقَالَ سَعْدُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَيُّ بَيِّنَةٍ أَبْيَنُ مِنَ السَّيْفِ؟ فَقَالَ «كِتَابُ اللهِ وَشَاهِدٌ ثَمَّةَ» قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «يَا مَعْشَرَ الْأَنْصَارِ هَذَا سَيِّدُكُمْ اسْتَفَزَّتْهُ الْغَيْرَةُ حَتَّى خَالَفَ كِتَابَ اللهِ» فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ سَعْدًا رَجُلٌ غَيُورٌ مَا تَزَوَّجَ امْرَأَةً ثَيِّبًا قَطُّ لِغَيْرَتِهِ وَمَا قَدَرَ أَحَدٌ مِنَّا أَنْ يَتَزَوَّجَ امْرَأَةً طَلَّقَهَا لِغَيْرَتِهِ قَالَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «سَعْدٌ غَيُورٌ وَأَنَا أَغْيَرُ مِنْهُ وَاللهُ ﷻ أَغْيَرُ مِنِّي» فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ عَلَى أَيِّ شَيْءٍ يَغَارُ اللهُ تَعَالَى قَالَ «يَغَارُ عَلَى رَجُلٍ مُجَاهِدٍ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ يُخَالَفُ إِلَى أَهْلِهِ»

✧ Saʿd b. ʿUbādah said: I was present with the Messenger of Allah when a man came to him and said: “O Messenger of Allah, I found a man on the belly of my wife. Should I strike him with the sword?” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “What evidence is clearer than the sword?” Then he returned and said: “This, the Book of our Lord.” Saʿd b. ʿUbādah said: “O Messenger of Allah, what evidence is clearer than the sword?” He said: “The Book of Allah and a witness there.” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “O company of the Anṣār, this is your chief. Jealousy has provoked him until he contradicted the Book of Allah.” A man from the Anṣār said: “O Messenger of Allah, Saʿd is a jealous man. He has never married a woman who was previously married because of his jealousy, and none of us is able to marry a woman he has divorced because of his jealousy.” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Saʿd is jealous, and I am more jealous than him, and Allah ﷻ is more jealous than me.” A man from the Anṣār said: “For what does Allah, Exalted is He, feel jealousy?” He said: “He feels jealousy for a man striving in the path of Allah whose family is approached unlawfully.”
