حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ الْمَكِّيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ الْوَسَاوِسِيُّ ثنا ضَمْرَةُ بْنُ رَبِيعَةَ عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ شَوْذَبٍ عَنْ أَبِي الْجُوَيْرِيَةِ عَنْ بَدْرِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ قَالَ وَقَفَ عَلَيْنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ يَوْمَ الدَّارِ فَقَالَ

أَلَا تَسْتَحْيُونَ مِمَّنْ تَسْتَحْيِي مِنْهُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ؟ قُلْنَا وَمَا ذَاكَ؟ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ مَرَّ بِي عُثْمَانُ وعِنْدِي مَلَكٌ مِنَ الْمَلَائِكَةِ فَقَالَ شَهِيدٌ يَقْتُلُهُ قَوْمُهُ إِنَّا لَنَسْتَحْيِي مِنْهُ قَالَ بَدْرٌ «فَانْصَرَفْنَا عَنْهُ عِصَابَةً مِنَ النَّاسِ»

✧ "Do you not feel shy before one from whom the angels feel shy?" We said, "What is that?" He said: "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: 'Uthman passed by me while an angel from among the angels was with me, and he said: "A martyr whom his people will kill; we feel shy before him." Badr said: "So a band of people turned away from him.""
