حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ غَنَّامٍ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ عِيسَى عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ ثَابِتِ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِنَّهُ يَأْتِينِي كُتُبٌ مِنَ النَّاسِ وَلَا أُحِبُّ أَنْ يَقْرَأَهَا كُلُّ أَحَدٍ فَهَلْ تَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ تَتَعَلَّمَ كِتَابَ السُّرْيَانِيَّةِ؟» قُلْتُ نَعَمْ «فَتَعَلَّمْتُهَا فِي سَبْعَ عَشْرَةَ»

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ said: “Letters come to me from people, and I do not like anyone to read them. Can you learn the Syriac script?” I said, “Yes.” “So I learned it in seventeen days.”
