حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو يَزِيدَ الْقَرَاطِيسِيُّ ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبِي أَنَا الْمُرَقَّعُ بْنُ صَيْفِيٍّ قَالَ ابْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ أَظُنُّهُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّ جَدَّهُ رَبَاحَ بْنَ رَبِيعٍ أَخَا حَنْظَلَةَ الْكَاتِبَ

أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ خَرَجَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي غَزْوَةٍ غَزَاهَا كَانَ عَلَى مُقَدِّمَتِهِ فِيهَا خَالِدُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ فَمَرَّ رَبَاحُ وَأَصْحَابُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ عَلَى امْرَأَةٍ مَقْتُولَةٍ مِمَّا أَصَابَتِ الْمُقَدِّمَةُ فَوَقَفُوا عَلَيْهَا يَنْظُرُونَ إِلَيْهَا وَيَعْجَبُونَ مِنْ خَلْقِهَا حَتَّى لَحِقَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَلَى نَاقَةٍ لَهُ فَتَفَرَّجُوا عَنِ الْمَرْأَةِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَا كَانَتْ هَذِهِ تُقَاتِلُ» ثُمَّ نَظَرَ فِي وُجُوهِ الْقَوْمِ فَقَالَ لِأَحَدِهِمْ «الْحَقْ خَالِدَ بْنَ الْوَلِيدِ فَلَا يَقْتُلَنَّ ذُرِّيَّةً وَلَا عَسِيفًا»

✧ He informed him that he went out with the Messenger of God ﷺ on a military expedition he undertook, in which Khalid b. al-Walid was in command of the vanguard. Rabah and the companions of the Messenger of God ﷺ passed by a woman who had been killed, one of those the vanguard had struck. They stopped at her, looking at her and marveling at her form, until the Messenger of God ﷺ caught up with them on a she-camel of his. They parted to make way for the woman. The Messenger of God ﷺ said: "This woman was not one to fight." Then he looked into the faces of the people and said to one of them: "Catch up with Khalid b. al-Walid. He must not kill any child or hired servant."
