✧ Al-Qaʿnabī narrated to us from Mālik, from Zayd b. Aslam, from Ibrāhīm b. ʿAbd Allāh b. Ḥunayn, from his father, that Ibn ʿAbbās and al-Miswar b. Makhrama disagreed at al-Abwāʾ. Ibn ʿAbbās said: “The pilgrim in iḥrām washes his head,” while al-Miswar said: “The pilgrim in iḥrām does not wash his head.” So Ibn ʿAbbās sent him to Abū Ayyūb al-Anṣārī. He found him bathing between the two posts, screening himself with a garment. He said: I greeted him, and he said: “Who is this?” I said: “I am ʿAbd Allāh b. Ḥunayn. ʿAbd Allāh b. ʿAbbās sent me to ask you how the Messenger of God ﷺ used to wash his head while in iḥrām.” He said: Abū Ayyūb placed his hand on the garment and lowered it for me, then said to a man pouring water on him: “Pour.” So he poured on his head, then moved his head with his hands, bringing them forward and back. Then he said: “This is how I saw him do it.”
