حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ مُسَاوِرٍ الْجَوْهَرِيُّ ثنا عَفَّانُ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ الْأَسْفَاطِيُّ ثنا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ قَالَا ثنا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ أَبِي النَّجُودِ عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ شَقِيقِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ عَزْرَةَ بْنِ قَيْسٍ قَالَ قَالَ خَالِدُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ كَتَبَ إِلَى عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ؓ حِينَ أَلْقَى الشَّامُ بَوَانِيَهُ بِثَنِيَّةً وَعَسَلًا فَأَمَرَنِي أَنْ أَسِيرَ إِلَى الْهِنْدِ قَالَ

وَالْهِنْدُ فِي أَنْفُسِنَا يَوْمَئِذٍ الْبَصْرَةُ وَأَنَا لِذَلِكَ كَارِهٌ قَالَ فَقَامَ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ يَا أَبَا سُلَيْمَانَ اتَّقِ اللهَ ﷻ فَإِنَّ الْفِتَنَ قَدْ ظَهَرَتْ قَالَ وَابْنُ الْخَطَّابِ حَيٌّ؟ إِنَّمَا يَكُونُ بَعْدَهُ وَالنَّاسُ بِذِي بِلِّيَانَ وَذِي بِلِّيَانَ بِمَكَانِ كَذَا وَكَذَا فَيَنْظُرُ الرَّجُلُ فَيَتَفَكَّرُ هَلْ يَجِدُ مَكَانًا لَمْ يَنْزِلْ بِهِ مِثْلَ الَّذِي نَزَلَ بِمَكَانِهِ الَّذِي هُوَ مِنَ الْفِتْنَةِ وَالشَّرِّ فَلَا يَجِدُهُ قَالَ وَأُولَئِكَ الْأَيَّامُ الَّتِي ذَكَرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «بَيْنَ يَدَيِ السَّاعَةِ أَيَّامُ الْهَرْجِ» فَنَعُوذُ بِاللهِ أَنْ تَدْرِكَنَا وَإِيَّاكُمْ تِلْكَ الْأَيَّامُ

✧ “...and al-Hind, in our hearts at that time, was al-Baṣra, while I disliked that.” He said: A man stood and said: “O Abū Sulaymān, fear God ﷻ, for tribulations have appeared.” He said: “Is Ibn al-Khaṭṭāb alive? It will only be after him, and the people at Dhī Billiyān—and Dhī Billiyān is at such-and-such a place. A man will look and reflect whether he can find a place that has not been struck by the like of what struck his own place, of tribulation and evil, and he will not find it.” He said: “And those are the days that the Messenger of God ﷺ mentioned: ‘Before the Hour there will be days of harj.’ We seek refuge with God that those days should overtake us and you.”
