حَدَّثَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْمُجَاشِعِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي يَعْقُوبَ الْكَرْمَانِيُّ ثنا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ نُصَيْرٍ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرٍ الْهُذَلِيُّ وَاسْمُهُ سَلْمَى عَنْ عَطَاءٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ

كُنْتُ أَمُرُّ بِهَذِهِ الْآيَةِ فَمَا أَدْرِي مَا هِيَ؟ قَوْلُهُ {بِالْعَشِيِّ وَالْإِشْرَاقِ} حَتَّى حَدَّثَتْنِي أُمُّ هَانِئٍ بِنْتُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ دَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا فَدَعَا بِوَضُوءٍ فِي جَفْنَةٍ فَكَأَنِّي أَنْظُرُ إِلَى أَثَرِ الْعَجِينِ فِيهَا فَتَوَضَّأَ ثُمَّ قَامَ فَصَلَّى الضُّحَى فَقَالَ «يَا أُمَّ هَانِئٍ هَذِهِ صَلَاةُ الْإِشْرَاقِ»

✧ I used to pass by this verse and not know what it is?—His saying {in the evening and the ishraq}—until Umm Hani' bint Abi Talib told me that the Messenger of God ﷺ entered upon her and called for water for ablution in a large bowl, and it is as if I am looking at the trace of dough in it. So he performed ablution, then stood and prayed the Duha prayer. He said: 'O Umm Hani', this is the prayer of ishraq.'
