✧ Salmā bt. Qays, Um al-Mundhir al-Ansāriyyah: One of the Aunts of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ

حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ ثنا يَحْيَى الْحِمَّانِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي الْمَوَالِي حَدَّثَنِي فَائِدٌ مَوْلَى عَلِيِّ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي رَافِعٍ

عَنْ جَدَّتِهِ سَلْمَى وَكَانَتْ خَادِمًا لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَتْ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِذَا اشْتَكَى أَحَدٌ مِنَّا رَأْسَهُ قَالَ «اذْهَبْ فَاحْتَجِمْ» وَإِذَا اشْتَكَى رِجْلَهُ قَالَ «اذْهَبْ فَاخْضِبْهَا بِالْحِنَّاءِ»

✧ From his grandmother Salmā, who served the Prophet ﷺ, she said: When one of us had a headache, the Prophet ﷺ would say, “Go and have cupping done,” and if he had a pain in his leg, he would say, “Go and dye it with henna.”
