حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ زَكَرِيَّا الْغَلَابِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ رَجَاءٍ الْغُدَانِيُّ أَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ أَبِي الْحُسَامِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ عَنْ أُمَيْمَةَ بِنْتِ رُقَيْقَةَ التَّيْمِيَّةَ قَالَتْ

دَخَلْتُ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فِي نِسْوَةٍ فَقُلْنَا نُبَايِعُكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ عَلَى أَنْ لَا نُشْرِكَ بِاللهِ شَيْئًا وَلَا نَسْرِقَ وَلَا نَزْنِي وَلَا نَأْتِيَ بِبُهْتَانٍ نَفْتَرِيَهُ بَيْنَ أَيْدِينَا وَأَرْجُلِنَا وَلَا نَعْصِيَكَ فِي مَعْرُوفٍ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «فِيمَا أَطَقْتُنَّ وَاسْتَطَعْتُنَّ» فَقُلْنَا اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَرْحَمُ بِنَا فَبَايِعْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ فَقَالَ «إِنِّي لَا أُصَافِحُ النِّسَاءَ وَإِنَّمَا قَوْلِي لِمِائَةٍ كَقَوْلِي لِوَاحِدَةٍ»

✧ I entered upon the Prophet ﷺ among a group of women. We said: We give you allegiance, O Messenger of Allah, that we will not associate anything with Allah, will not steal, will not commit adultery, will not bring slander that we fabricate between our hands and feet, and will not disobey you in what is good. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “In what you are able and can bear.” We said: Allah and His Messenger are more merciful to us. So accept our allegiance, O Messenger of Allah. He said: “I do not shake hands with women. My word to a hundred is like my word to one.”
