حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ ثنا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ ثنا عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ بْنُ بَهْرَامَ حَدَّثَنِي شَهْرُ بْنُ حَوْشَبٍ قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتَ يَزِيدَ تَقُولُ دَخَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْمَسْجِدَ يَوْمًا وَعِصَابَةٌ مِنَ النِّسَاءِ قُعُودٌ فَأَلْوَى يَدَهُ الْيُمْنَى بِالسَّلَامِ وَتَبَسَّمَ إِلَيْهِنَّ وَقَالَ «إِيَّاكُنَّ وَكُفْرُ الْمُنَعَّمِينَ» فَقَالَتِ امْرَأَةٌ أَعُوذُ بِاللهِ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ مِنْ كُفْرَانِ نِعَمِ اللهِ قَالَ «إِنَّ إِحْدَاكُنَّ يَطُولُ أَيْمَتُهَا ثُمَّ يَرْزُقُهَا اللهُ الْبَعْلَ وَتُفِيدُ الْوَلَدَ وَقُرَّةَ الْعَيْنِ ثُمَّ تَغْضَبُ الْغَضْبَةَ فَتُقْسَمُ بِاللهِ مَا رَأَيْتُ مِنْهُ سَاعَةً خَيْرًا قَطُّ فَذَلِكَ مِنْ كُفْرَانِ نِعَمِ اللهِ وَذَلِكَ مِنْ كُفْرَانِ نِعَمِ اللهِ وَذَلِكَ مِنْ كُفْرَانِ نِعَمِ اللهِ»

✧ I heard Asmā’ bt. Yazīd say: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered the mosque one day while a group of women were sitting. He gestured with his right hand in greeting, smiled at them, and said: “Beware of ingratitude toward those who bestow favors.” A woman said: “I seek refuge in Allah, O Messenger of Allah, from ingratitude for Allah’s favors.” He said: “Indeed, one of you remains long without a husband, then Allah provides her a husband, and she gains a child and delight of the eye. Then she becomes angry one time and swears by Allah: ‘I have never seen any good from him ever.’ That is part of ingratitude for Allah’s favors; that is part of ingratitude for Allah’s favors; that is part of ingratitude for Allah’s favors.”
