حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّبَرِيُّ أَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ حَدَّثَنِي مَنْصُورُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ أُمِّهِ صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتِ شَيْبَةَ عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ قَالَتْ

فَزِعَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَوْمَ كُسِفَتِ الشَّمْسُ فَأَخَذَ دِرْعًا فَلَبِسَهَا حَتَّى أَدْرَكَ بُرْدًا فَقَامَ بِالنَّاسِ قِيَامًا طَوِيلًا يَقُومُ ثُمَّ يَرْكَعُ ثُمَّ يَرْفَعُ فَلَوْ جَاءَ إِنْسَانٌ بَعْدَمَا رَفَعَ لَمْ يَكُنْ عَلِمَ أَنَّهُ رَكَعَ شَيْئًا وَلَمَا حَدَّثَ نَفْسَهُ أَنَّهُ رَكَعَ مِنْ طُولِ الْقِيَامِ فَجَعَلْتُ أَنْظُرُ إِلَى الْمَرْأَةِ الَّتِي هِيَ أَكْبَرُ وَالْمَرْأَةُ الَّتِي هِيَ أَسْقَمُ مِنِّي قَائِمَةً فَأَقُولُ أَنَا أَحَقُّ أَنْ أَصْبِرَ عَلَى طُولِ الْقِيَامِ

✧ The Prophet ﷺ was alarmed on the day the sun eclipsed. He took a cloak and put it on until he caught a chill. He stood with the people for a very long standing: he would stand, then bow, then rise. If someone came after he had risen, he would not have known that he had bowed anything, nor would he have thought to himself that he had bowed, because of the length of the standing. I began looking at the woman who was older than me and the woman who was sicker than me, standing, and I said, "I am more entitled to endure the long standing."
