حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ فَضَاءَ الْجَوْهَرِيُّ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ بُدَيْلٍ ثنا مُفَضَّلُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ قَالَ
صَلَّيْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ صَلَاةً مَكْتُوبَةً فَضَمَّ يَدَيْهِ فِي الصَّلَاةِ فَلَمَّا قَضَى الصَّلَاةَ قُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَحَدَثَ فِي الصَّلَاةِ شَيْءٌ؟ قَالَ «لَا إِلَّا أَنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ أَرَادَ أَنْ يَمُرَّ بَيْنَ يَدَيَّ فَخَنَقْتُهُ حَتَّى وَجَدْتُ بَرْدَ لِسَانِهِ عَلَى يَدَيَّ وَأَيْمُ اللهِ لَوْلَا مَا سَبَقَنِي إِلَيْهِ أَخِي سُلَيْمَانُ لَنِيطَ إِلَى سَارِيَةِ مِنْ سَوَارِي الْمَسْجِدِ حَتَّى يَطِيفَ بِهِ وِلْدَانُ أَهْلِ الْمَدِينَةِ»

✧ We prayed an obligatory prayer with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he clasped his hands during the prayer. When he finished the prayer, we said, “O Messenger of Allah, has something new occurred in the prayer?” He said, “No, except that Satan wanted to pass in front of me, so I choked him until I felt the coldness of his tongue on my hand. By Allah, had it not been for what my brother Sulayman preceded me to, he would have been tied to one of the pillars of the mosque so that the children of Madinah could go around him.”
