✧ The Sermon of Aisha

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْخَفَّافُ الْمِصْرِيُّ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ ثنا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي السَّائِبُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ عَنِ الْمُطَّلِبِ بْنِ أَبِي وَدَاعَةَ السَّهْمِيِّ

أَنَّ حَفْصَةَ زَوْجَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَتْ «لَمْ أَرَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي فِي سُبْحَتِهِ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ حَتَّى كَانَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَتَوَفَّاهُ اللهُ بِعَامٍ وَاحِدٍ أَوِ اثْنَيْنِ فَرَأَيْتُهُ يُصَلِّي فِي سُبْحَتِهِ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ يُرَتِّلُ السُّورَةَ حَتَّى تَكُونَ أَطْوَلَ مِنْ أَطْوَلَ مِنْهَا»

✧ Hafsah, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, said: “I did not see the Messenger of God ﷺ pray in his voluntary prayer while sitting until one or two years before God took him. Then I saw him pray in his voluntary prayer while sitting, reciting the surah slowly until it became longer than a longer one.”
