حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا مُعَلَّى بْنُ أَسَدٍ الْعَمِّيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ الْمُخْتَارِ ثنا خَالِدٌ الْحَذَّاءُ عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ النَّهْدِيِّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْعَاصِ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ بَعَثَهُ عَلَى جَيْشِ ذَاتِ السَّلَاسِلِ فَأَتَيْتُهُ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَيُّ النَّاسِ أَحَبُّ إِلَيْكَ؟ قَالَ «عَائِشَةُ» قُلْتُ مِنَ الرِّجَالِ قَالَ «أَبُوهَا» قُلْتُ وَمَنْ؟ قَالَ «عُمَرُ» قُلْتُ ثُمَّ مَنْ فَعَدَّدَ رِجَالًا

✧ That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent him on the expedition of Dhāt al-Salāsil. So I came to him and said, “O Messenger of Allah, which of the people is most beloved to you?” He said, “‘A’ishah.” I said, “From the men?” He said, “Her father.” I said, “Then who?” He said, “‘Umar.” I said, “Then who?” And he counted several men.
