✧ The Marriage of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to Khadijah, Her Age, Her Death, and Some of Her Stories

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ وَأَبُو مُسْلِمٍ الْكَشِّيُّ قَالَا ثنا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ الْمِنْهَالِ ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «أُتِيتُ بِجَارِيَةٍ فِي سَرَقَةٍ مِنْ حَرِيرٍ مِنْ بَعْدِ وَفَاةِ خَدِيجَةَ فَإِذَا هِيَ أَنْتِ» فَقُلْتُ إِنْ يَكُنْ هَذَا مِنْ عِنْدِ اللهِ يُمْضِهِ ثُمَّ أُتِيتُ أَيْضًا بِجَارِيَةٍ فِي سَرَقَةٍ مِنْ حَرِيرٍ فَكَشَفْتُهَا فَإِذَا هِيَ أَنْتِ فَقُلْتُ إِنْ يَكُنْ هَذَا مِنْ عِنْدِ اللهِ يُمْضِهِ قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ فَتَزَوَّجَنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مُتَوَفَّى خَدِيجَةَ قَبْلَ مَخْرَجِهِ مِنْ مَكَّةَ وَأَنَا بِنْتُ سَبْعِ سِنِينَ أَوْ سِتِّ سِنِينَ فَلَمَّا قَدِمْنَا الْمَدِينَةَ جَاءَتْنِي نِسْوَةٌ وَأَنَا أَلْعَبُ عَلَى أُرْجُوحَةٍ وَأَنَا مُجَمَّمَةٌ فَهَيَّأْنَنِي وَصَنَعْنَنِي ثُمَّ أَتَيْنَ بِي رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ وَأَنَا بِنْتُ تِسْعِ سِنِينَ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'I was brought a girl in a piece of silk after Khadijah's death, and it was you.' I said: If this is from Allah, He will bring it to pass. Then I was brought a girl again in a piece of silk, and I uncovered her, and it was you. I said: If this is from Allah, He will bring it to pass. A'ishah said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ married me after Khadijah's death before his departure from Makkah, when I was seven or six years old. When we came to Madinah, women came to me while I was playing on a swing, and I had bangs. They prepared me and adorned me, then they brought me to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when I was nine.
