حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ حَدَّثَنِي يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ كَاسِبٍ ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ حَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ حَدَّثَتْنِي زَيْنَبُ بِنْتُ أَبِي رَافِعٍ

عَنْ فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَنَّهَا أَتَتْ بِالْحَسَنِ وَالْحُسَيْنِ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي شَكْوَاهُ الَّذِي تُوُفِّيَ فِيهِ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ هَذَانِ ابْنَاكَ فَوَرِّثْهُمَا شَيْئًا فَقَالَ «أَمَّا الْحَسَنُ فَلَهُ هَيْبَتِي وَسُؤْدُدِي وَأَمَّا حُسَيْنٌ فَلَهُ جُرْأَتِي وَجُودِي»

✧ On the authority of Fatimah, daughter of the Messenger of God ﷺ, that she brought al-Hasan and al-Husayn to the Messenger of God ﷺ during the illness in which he died, and said, “O Messenger of God, these are your two sons, so give them something as inheritance.” He said, “As for al-Hasan, he has my awe and my nobility, and as for Husayn, he has my courage and my generosity.”
