حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَيَّانَ الْمَازِنِيُّ ثنا كَثِيرُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْكَرِيمِ بْنِ سَلِيطٍ الْحَنَفِيُّ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ أَبِي الْمِقْدَامِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي فَاخِتَةَ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ

دَخَلَ عَلَيْنَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ وَأَنَا نَائِمٌ فَاسْتَسْقَى الْحَسَنُ فَقَامَ إِلَى مَسْحَةٍ لَنَا نكيهِ فِيضَ مِنْهَا ثُمَّ جَاءَ بِالْإِنَاءِ فَقَامَ إِلَيْهِ الْحُسَيْنُ يَسْتَسْقِيهِ فَقَالَ «أَخُوكَ اسْتَسْقَى قَبْلَكَ يَشْرَبُ ثُمَّ تَشْرَبُ» فَقَالَتْ فَاطِمَةُ كَأَنَّهُ أَحَبُّهُمَا إِلَيْكَ فَقَالَ «مَا هُوَ بِأَحَبِّهِمَا إِلَيَّ وَإِنَّهُمَا عِنْدِي لَبِمَكانٍ وَاحِدٍ فَإِنِّي وَإِيَّاكَ وَهُمَا وَهَذَا الرَّاقِدُ لَفِي مَكَانٍ وَاحِدٍ»

Translation

✧ The Prophet ﷺ entered upon us while I was sleeping. Al-Hasan asked for water, so he went to a waterskin of ours and poured some from it. Then he brought the vessel, and al-Husayn got up to ask him for water. He said, "Your brother asked for water before you; he will drink, then you will drink." Fatimah said, "It is as if he is the more beloved of the two to you." He said, "He is not the more beloved of the two to me; they are both in one position with me. Indeed I, you, these two, and this sleeping one will be in one place."
