وَعَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ قَالَ

صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الصُّبْحَ فَجَعَلَ يَنْتَهِرُ شَيْئًا قُدَّامَهُ فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ سَأَلْنَاهُ فَقَالَ «ذَاكَ شَيْطَانٌ أَلْقَى عَلَى قَدَمِي شَرَرًا مِنَ النَّارِ لِيَفْتِنَنِي عَنِ الصَّلَاةِ وَلَوْ أَخَذْتُهُ لَنِيطَ إِلَى سَارِيَةٍ مِنْ سَوَارِي الْمَسْجِدِ حَتَّى يَطِيفَ بِهِ وِلْدَانُ أَهْلِ الْمَدِينَةِ»

Translation

Chain of narrators
  1. Jābir b. Samurah

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed the morning prayer and began rebuking something in front of him. When he finished, we asked him, and he said: "That was a devil who threw sparks of fire on my foot to distract me from the prayer. Had I seized him, he would have been tied to one of the pillars of the mosque until the children of Madinah went around him."
