حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ ثنا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ ثنا أَبِي ثنا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ سَمُرَةَ يَقُولُ أُتِيَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِرَجُلٍ أَشْعَرَ قَصِيرٍ ذِي عَضَلَاتٍ أَقَرَّ بِالزِّنَا فَرَدَّهُ مَرَّتَيْنِ ثُمَّ أَمَرَ بِهِ فَرُجِمَ وَقَالَ أَكُلَّمَا نَفَرْنَا غَازِينَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ يَتَخَلَّفُ أَحَدُكُمْ يَنِبُّ نَبِيبَ التَّيْسِ يَمْنَحُ إِحْدَاهُنَّ الْكُثْبَةَ أَمَا إِنِّي لَنْ أُوتِيَ بِأَحَدٍ مِنْكُمْ فَعَلَ هَذَا إِلَّا جَعَلْتُهُ نَكَالًا وَرُبَّمَا قَالَ سِمَاكٌ إِلَّا نَكَّلْتُهُ

Translation

✧ That he heard Jabir b. Samurah say: A man with abundant hair, short, and muscular was brought to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ; he confessed to fornication. He turned him away twice, then he ordered that he be stoned. Then he said, "Every time we go out in a military expedition in the path of Allah, one of you stays behind and bleats like the bleating of a billy goat, giving one of them a small amount of milk. Indeed, if anyone of you is brought to me having done this, I will make him an exemplary punishment." Simak sometimes said, "I will punish him harshly."
