✧ Yazid b. Rukana bin Abd Yazid bin Hashim died during the caliphate of Muawiyah.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَانُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَدْرٍ الْبَصْرِيُّ ثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ دِينَارٍ وَابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ عَنْ عَطَاءٍ عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ يَعْلَى عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

غَزَوْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ غَزْوَةَ تَبُوكَ عَلَى بَكْرٍ صَعْبٍ وَمَعِي أَجِيرٌ لِي فَقَاتَلَ أَجِيرِي رَجُلًا فَعَضَّهُ فَنَزَعَ يَدَهُ مِنْ فِيهِ فَسَقَطَتْ ثَنِيَّتُهُ فَأُتِيَ بِهِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ لَهُ أَتُدَعُ يَدُهُ فِي فِيكَ تَقْضَمُهَا كَمَا يَقْضَمُ الْفَحْلُ فَأَهْدَرَهَا

✧ I went on the expedition of Tabuk with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on a refractory young camel, and I had a hired hand with me. My hired hand fought a man, and the man bit him. He pulled his hand from the man's mouth, and his front tooth fell out. He was brought to the Prophet ﷺ, and he said to him: 'Would he leave his hand in your mouth for you to gnaw it as a stallion gnaws?' So he declared the tooth to be of no consequence.
