حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْفَرَحِ مَوْلَى بَنِي هَاشِمٍ ثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ غُرَابٍ ثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو رَجَاءٍ الْعُطَارِدِيُّ عَنْ أَبِي ثَعْلَبَةَ الْخُشَنِيِّ قَالَ

أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّا بِأَرْضِ أَهْلُهَا أَهْلُ الْكِتَابِ يَأْكُلُونَ لَحْمَ الْخِنْزِيرِ وَيَشْرَبُونَ الْخَمْرَ كَيْفَ تَأْمُرُنَا بِقُدُورِهِمْ وآنِيَتِهِمِ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنْ وَجَدْتُمْ غَيْرَهَا وَإِلَّا فَارْحَضُوهَا بِالْمَاءِ وَاطْبُخُوا فِيهَا وَاشْرَبُوا

✧ I came to the Messenger of Allah and said: O Messenger of Allah, we are in a land whose people are People of the Book, who eat the flesh of swine and drink wine. How do you command us regarding their pots and vessels? The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: If you find other than them, then (use those); otherwise, rinse them with water and cook in them and drink.
