حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ثنا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ عَنِ الْحَكَمِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا جُحَيْفَةَ يُحَدِّثُ قَالَ

«خَرَجَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بِالْهَاجِرَةِ إِلَى الْبَطْحَاءِ فَتَوَضَّأَ وَصَلَّى الظُّهْرَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَصَلَّى الْعَصْرَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَبَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ عَنَزَةٌ» قَالَ شُعْبَةُ وَزَادَ عَوْنٌ عَنْ أَبِي جُحَيْفَةَ قَالَ كَانَ يَمُرُّ مِنْ وَرَائِهَا الْحِمَارُ وَالْمَرْأَةُ ثُمَّ قَامَ النَّاسُ فَجَعَلُوا يَأْخُذُونَ يَدَهُ فَيَمْسَحُونَ بِهَا وُجُوهَهُمْ فَأَخَذْتُ بِيَدِهِ فَوَضَعْتُهَا عَلَى وَجْهِي فَإِذَا هِيَ أَبْرَدُ مِنَ الثَّلْجِ وَأَطْيَبُ رِيحًا مِنَ الْمِسْكِ

Translation

✧ The Prophet ﷺ went out at midday to al-Batha, performed ablution, and prayed Zuhr as two rak'ahs and 'Asr as two rak'ahs, with a short spear in front of him. Shu'bah said: 'Awn added from Abu Juhaifah: "A donkey and a woman passed from behind it." Then the people stood up and began taking his hand and wiping their faces with it. I took his hand and placed it on my face, and it was cooler than snow and more fragrant than musk.
