حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ الْمَكِّيُّ وأَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْخُزَاعِيُّ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ قَالَا ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ ثنا إِسْرَائِيلُ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى قَالَ

صَلَّيْتُ خَلْفَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْيَحْصِبِيِّ فَسَلَّمَ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَعَنْ يَسَارِهِ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ قَالَ قُلْتُ لَهُ مِنْ أَيْنَ أَخَذْتَ هَذَا؟ قَالَ صَلَّيْتُ خَلْفَ وَائِلِ بْنِ حُجْرٍ قَالَ «صَلَّيْتُ خَلْفَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَفَعَلَ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ حَتَّى رَأَيْتُ بَيَاضَ خَدَّيْهِ»

✧ I prayed behind ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Yaḥṣubī, and he gave salutation to his right: “Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah,” and to his left the same. He said: I said to him, “From where did you take this?” He said, “I prayed behind Wāʾil b. Ḥujr, and he said, ‘I prayed behind the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he did the same until I saw the whiteness of his cheeks.’”
