حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبْدُوسَ بْنِ كَامِلٍ السِّرَاجُ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حُسَيْنِ بْنِ مُكْرَمٍ قَالَا ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ الْأُمَوِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ثنا عِمْرَانُ بْنُ يَحْيَى الْأَسَدِيُّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَمِّي مَرْوَانَ بْنَ قَيْسٍ وَقَدْ أَخَذَ الرَّعِيَّةَ
عَنْ أَهْلِهِ فِي عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ أَبِي تُوُفِّيَ وَقَدْ جَعَلَ عَلَيْهِ أَنْ يَمْشِيَ إِلَى مَكَّةَ وَأَنْ يَنْحَرَ بَدَنَةً وَلَمْ يَتْرُكْ مَالًا فَهَلْ يَقْضِي عَنْهُ أَنَّ نَمْشِي عَنْهُ وَأَنْ نَقْضِيَ عَنْهُ بَدَنَةً مِنْ مَالِي؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «نَعَمْ اقْضِ عَنْهُ وَانْحَرْ وَامْشِ أَرَأَيْتَ لَوْ كَانَ عَلَى أَبِيكَ دَيْنٌ لِرَجُلٍ فَقَضَيْتَ عَنْهُ مِنْ مَالِكَ أَلَيْسَ يَرْجِعُ الرَّجُلُ رَاضِيًا؟ وَاللهُ أَحَقُّ أَنَّ يَرْضَى»

✧ On the authority of his family, during the era of the Messenger of God ﷺ, he said: A man came to the Messenger of God ﷺ and said, “O Messenger of God, my father has died and had obligated himself to walk to Makkah and to slaughter a camel, but he left no wealth. Should I fulfill it on his behalf by walking for him and slaughtering a camel from my own wealth?” The Messenger of God ﷺ said, “Yes, fulfill it on his behalf, and slaughter, and walk. Do you not see that if your father owed a debt to a man and you paid it on his behalf from your wealth, would the man not go back satisfied? And God is more deserving that He be satisfied.”
