حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو شُعَيْبٍ الْحَرَّانِيُّ ثنا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ النُّفَيْلِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ حَدَّثَنِي عَاصِمُ بْنُ عُمَرَ بْنِ قَتَادَةَ قَالَ
قَدِمَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ بَعْدَ أُحُدٍ نَفَرٌ مِنْ عَضَلٍ وَالْقَارَةِ فَقَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ فِينَا إِسْلَامًا فَابْعَثْ مَعَنَا نَفَرًا مِنْ أَصْحَابِكَ يُفَقِّهُونَا فِي الدِّينِ وَيُقْرِئُونَا الْقُرْآنَ وَيُعَلِّمُوننَا شَرَائِعَ الْإِسْلَامِ فَبَعَثَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ نَفَرًا سِتَّةً مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ مَرْثَدَ بْنَ أَبِي مَرْثَدٍ الْغَنَوِيَّ حَلِيفَ حَمْزَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ فَذَكَرَ الْقِصَّةَ قَالَ وَأَمَّا مَرْثَدُ بْنُ أَبِي مَرْثَدٍ وَخَالِدُ بْنُ الْبُكَيْرِ وَعَاصِمُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ فَقَالُوا وَاللهِ لَا نَقْبَلُ مِنْ مُشْرِكٍ عَهْدًا وَلَا عَقْدًا أَبَدًا فَقَاتَلُوهُمْ حَتَّى قَتَلُوهُمْ

✧ After Uhud, a group from 'Adal and al-Qarah came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: “O Messenger of Allah, there is Islam among us, so send with us a group of your companions to teach us the religion, recite the Qur'an to us, and teach us the laws of Islam.” So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent six of his companions, including Marthad b. Abi Marthad al-Ghanawi, the ally of Hamzah b. 'Abd al-Muttalib. He mentioned the story, saying: “As for Marthad b. Abi Marthad, Khalid b. al-Bukayr, and 'Asim b. Thabit, they said: 'By Allah, we will never accept a covenant or pact from a polytheist.' They fought them until they killed them.”
